The point of a warranty is not the document. It is that a contractor who has to come back and fix their own mistakes has every reason not to make them in the first place. That is why we prepare surfaces properly, and it is why we are comfortable putting our name behind the result in writing.
What it covers
Peeling, flaking or blistering
If a coating we applied lifts from the surface within the warranty period and the cause is our preparation or application, we come back and put it right.
Bubbling and adhesion failure
Coatings that fail to bond properly are almost always a preparation problem. Preparation is our responsibility, so the fix is too.
Cracking and splitting in the film
Where the coating itself has failed rather than the substrate moving underneath it.
Visible defects in our finish
Runs, sags, holidays, roller stipple where there should not be any, or a repair that has flashed through. If we can see it and you can see it, we fix it.
What it does not
Normal wear and fading
Every coating loses some depth of colour to UV over time, particularly on south and west elevations. That is expected ageing, not a failure.
Damage from moisture we flagged
If we identified a leak, failing gutter, rotten sill or damp problem before we started and it was not repaired, coating failure at that point is not a workmanship issue.
Substrate movement
Settlement cracks, structural movement and nail pops that appear after we finish are the building moving, not the coating failing.
Damage, alteration or third-party work
Impact damage, pressure washing at the wrong setting, or another contractor working on the same surface.
Your written warranty is issued with your project paperwork and is the document that governs. Ask to see it at the quote stage — we will walk you through it before you commit to anything.
Warranty — frequently asked
Is the warranty in writing?
Yes. It is set out in your project paperwork, not just mentioned on a website. Ask for it at the quote stage and we will walk you through what is and is not covered before you commit to anything.
What does a warranty claim actually involve?
Call us on (240) 981-4472 and describe what you are seeing. In most cases we will come and look at it, and if it is our workmanship we schedule the repair. There is no form to fill in and no argument.
Does it cover the paint itself, or just your labour?
Our warranty covers our workmanship. Coatings carry their own manufacturer warranty on top of that, and because we specify quality products rather than the cheapest available, those are usually worth something. We will tell you which product is going on your home and what it is rated for.
What if I sell the house?
Ask us at the quote stage. Transferability varies, and we would rather tell you exactly where you stand up front than have you discover it later.
How long does the warranty run?
The term is set out in your project paperwork — ask us at the quote stage and we will tell you before you commit. What matters more than the number is when workmanship failures actually appear: preparation problems surface within a season or two of Maryland weather, through one freeze-thaw winter and one humid summer.
