What good exterior painting actually involves
Maryland is hard on an exterior. Humid summers, a genuine freeze-thaw winter, and enough sun on a south elevation to chalk a cheap coating in three years. An exterior repaint that skips the washing and scraping will look fine in October and be peeling by the second spring.
We wash, scrape back to sound material, spot-prime bare wood, re-caulk the joints that have opened, and then apply coatings rated for this climate. The work you can see is the last ten percent of it.

Every surface is cleaned and dulled, loose coating is removed back to sound material, and bare spots are primed before topcoat.
Caulking and joint repair
Opened seams, failed caulk lines and gaps around windows and trim get sealed — that is where water gets in.
Rot and substrate checks
We flag soft trim, damaged fascia and failing sills before we paint over them, and we can repair or replace them.
Weather-planned scheduling
We watch dew point and rain windows rather than pushing a coat on because the van is already loaded.

Exterior Painting — frequently asked
What time of year is best for exterior painting in Maryland?
Late spring through early fall is the widest window, but we paint well into the shoulder seasons using coatings rated for lower temperatures. What actually matters is surface temperature and dew point on the day, and we plan around both.
Do you power wash before painting?
Yes, on essentially every exterior. Paint does not bond to chalk, pollen, mildew or dirt. Washing is included in the scope, not an upsell.
Can you paint vinyl siding?
We can, using coatings formulated for vinyl that will not cause the panels to warp. There are color limits — going much darker than the original can absorb enough heat to distort the siding — and we will walk you through that before you choose.
How long will an exterior repaint last?
With proper prep and quality coatings, typically 8 to 12 years on siding and somewhat less on high-exposure trim and doors. Our workmanship warranty is issued in writing with your paperwork.
