What good luxury vinyl plank flooring actually involves
Luxury vinyl plank has become the default for kitchens, basements and busy family floors for good reason: it is genuinely waterproof, it takes a beating, and modern products look convincingly like wood. What separates a good LVP installation from a bad one is almost never the plank — it is the subfloor.
We check flatness, address the high and low spots, allow the material to acclimatise, plan the layout so you are not left with a two-inch sliver against the most visible wall, and finish the perimeter and transitions properly.

Subfloor prep first
Flatness checked and corrected before a plank goes down. Ridges and dips telegraph straight through the finished floor.
Planned layout
We set out the run so plank widths at the walls are balanced and seams fall where they are least visible.
Proper transitions
Thresholds, stair noses and reducers fitted and color-matched, not covered with a strip of contrasting metal.
Trim reinstated
Baseboard and quarter round removed, refitted and touched up so the floor edge looks built-in rather than added.

Is LVP genuinely waterproof?
The plank itself is, which is why it works in basements, kitchens and bathrooms. Standing water can still reach the subfloor through the perimeter over time, so it is not a substitute for fixing a leak.
Can you install over my existing floor?
Sometimes — over sound, flat tile or vinyl it can be viable. Over anything soft, uneven or failing, it is a false economy. We check and tell you which situation you are in.
How long does a room take?
A typical room is a day including prep and trim. A main floor is usually two to four days depending on removal, subfloor work and transitions.
Do you move the furniture?
Yes, that is included. Very heavy items — a full gun safe, a slate pool table — we will discuss in advance.
