Protection comes before anything else
Before a lid comes off, furniture is moved to the centre of the room and wrapped, floors are covered properly — not with a bedsheet — and anything that stays gets masked. In an occupied Upper Marlboro home this is what makes the difference between a project you can live through and one you cannot.
Prep is most of the job
Nail pops get set and filled. Hairline cracks get bridged rather than skimmed over. Old glossy trim is de-glossed and sanded so the new coating has something to grip. Patches get spot-primed so they do not flash through the finish as dull spots.
This stage takes longer than painting does. It is also the entire reason one repaint still looks right in ten years and another looks tired in three.
The lines are where the craft shows
Wall to ceiling, wall to trim, and any colour change get cut in by hand. On a two-storey stairwell — common in the newer Upper Marlboro developments — that means proper access equipment rather than a ladder balanced on a stair tread.
And then it gets cleaned
Furniture goes back where it came from, floors are vacuumed, hardware is refitted, and we walk the rooms with you before we call it finished. Anything you flag gets fixed before we leave.
